Three Whales Surprise Our Tours! 🐋🐋🐋

📅 Monday 3 August 2026 – Afternoon

The afternoon tour delivered another unforgettable encounter!

While travelling between Seal Island and Wright Island, a distant whale blow caught our skipper's eye. We carefully altered course into Encounter Bay to investigate, before slowing to a stop.

Moments later, three whales surfaced just 50 metres ahead of the vessel, travelling steadily west through the bay. We remained stationary, allowing the whales to continue naturally on their journey without disturbance, providing everyone on board with an incredible front-row view. Once the pod had safely passed, we resumed our tour.

📅 Monday 3 August 2026 – Morning

What a way to start the day! Before our morning tour had even departed, we spotted three whales moving around the Granite Island Causeway.

After leaving the harbour, we located the trio quietly loafing together in a pod just offshore. We spent time observing them from a respectful distance as they rested and surfaced together, before they slowly continued on their way. Once the whales had moved off, we continued towards Seal Island to complete the remainder of our Southern Ocean Adventure.

Encounters like these are a wonderful reminder that every day on the Southern Ocean is different. While we can never predict exactly where whales will appear, that's all part of the excitement of experiencing wildlife in its natural environment.
