We sent the plane up yesterday to spot the whales along the coast, 3 pairs were spotted with adult males close nearby. One pair was seen playing in the brackish water flowing from the mouth. Today we have a mother and calf at Boettcher Rd, another great day for photos.
Our crew member Rupert took this fantastic shot on his phone of a whale breach while out on the Big Duck Boat today. The whales were mainly concentrated around Miami Pde, Middleton to Basham Beach today. 3 sets of cows and calves.
Whales along the entire coast today, a bunch near Granite Island and the Causeway, more over closer to the Victor Harbor Yacht Club, a lone whales by Pullen Island and 3 Mother and calves at Bashams Beach. Southern Right Whales have been sighted both days off of Bashams Beach, no photos as yet.
What a great day for whale watching, we spotted 7 whales today, 2 Southern Right whales at Bashams Beach and 5 Humpbacks at Yilkie. Our intreped photographer friend @psycs_pix took this great shot of one of the Sourhern Right Whales at Bashams Beach.

Numerous sightings were made throughout the weekend, on water most of our action was around the West Island area, from the land traveling Humpbacks and Southern Right whales were spotted from Waitpinga to Goolwa lookout. The first calf is now suckling in the Encounter Bay Whale Sanctuary. Below is a picture by Maddie of a whale in the lee area of Granite Island.

Great sightings and conditions on yesterday's cruise, a Southern Right Whale popped up right next to us!
On the 24th of June avid photographer @psycs_pix grabbed an amazing photo of the underside of a Humpback Whale tale emerging from Freemans Knob near Port Elliot.
Another Sunfish swimming in the glassy waters of Victor Harbor today, fantastic to see these new visitors to our waters... we also had 2 Southern Right Whales in the region near Port Elliot / Middleton (no photos avail)
One of our crew members Rupert is currently watching a whale breach multiple times over and over at Goolwa Beach, it is to far out to identify, but it is having a whale of a time entertaining onlookers! If you are in the area it may be worth having a quick look.
While we have had early sightings of traveling Humpback whales yesterday today was another Sunfish day, fantastic to have a few in the last week, when we previously had not seen any. No photos from today as the overcast light was awkward. We went through last years notes, activity along the coast should be increasing very soon.

Last Sunday we were out cruising the islands off of Victor Harbor when a Sunfish visited, we haven't seen any before in the area. Such a beautiful animal peacefully swimming by The Big Duck. Sunfish can grow to up to 3.3m in length and weigh more then 2t!

A Southern Right Whale was spotted 400m off of the back of the rocky bay of Middleton during the local South Coast Board Riders Club surfing event. The Whale swam towards Frenchmans Reef
